Aims and Objectives This SITS (Scaffold Inspection Training Scheme) course is intended to give attendees such knowledge so as to enable them to understand how to inspect basic and some simple designed scaffolding structures in traditional tube and fittings in accordance with the Work at Height Regulations 2005 and scaffolding industry best practice.

The overall aim is to develop in trainees an understanding of scaffold components, forms of construction and inspection procedures of basic access scaffolds and some simple designed structure’s and to comply with current regulations and industry best practice.

At the end of the course delegates should be able to:

•Identify and inspect tubes, fittings, boards, ladders, gin wheels, ropes correctly.
•State the main requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, Work at Height Regulations 2005 and scaffolding industry best practice.
•Identify the construction requirements common to all scaffolds to include:
-Foundations and ground conditions
-Scaffold ties and stability
-Working platforms, handrails and toe-boards
-Methods of access and egress
•Carry out inspections and fault identification on access scaffolds
•Complete and maintain reports in accordance with the Work at Height Regulations 2005
Pre-Requisites

Pre-requisites for Candidates:

This course is intended for persons responsible for inspecting and checking basic tube and fitting scaffolds. In order to attend this course CISRS will require delegates to have awareness and experience of scaffolding structures, from time spent in their individual industry sector.

Those meeting one of the following criteria will be accepted onto the course

  1. Delegates that hold a current CISRS Scaffolder card
  2. Delegates holds a current CISRS Advanced Scaffolder card
  3. Delegates holds a current CISRS Scaffolding Supervisor card
  4. Delegates that hold a current or expired CISRS Basic Inspection card and is attending the course in order to renew their card

CISRS BSITS Delegate Entry check form
Individuals not holding an eligible CISRS card, detailed above, wishing to attend the course will be required to complete the CISRS BSITS Delegate Entry Check Form confirming a minimum of 2 years of experience in their role.

Examples of acceptable roles are:

  • Scaffold Designer
  • Contracts Manager
  • Engineer
  • Site Agent/Manager
  • H&S Manager
  • HSE Inspector
  • Scaffolding Inspector who has previously attended a non CISRS Scaffold Inspection/Awareness course at least 2 years before the start of the CISRS Basic SITS course.

Delegates must have successfully completed a CITB Health and Safety and Environment Test within 2 years prior to attending the CISRS BSITS course or alternatively hold an accepted Health and Safety exemption.

The successful achievement of the above training objectives will be demonstrated using the following assessment methods:
 
•Theory test to assess trainees comprehension of course
•Practical scaffolding inspections
Who will benefit from this course This is a course aimed at persons responsible for inspecting tube and fitting scaffold and completing a report in accordance to the Work at Height Regulations 2005.

Please note that health, safety and environmental tests are valid for 2 years from the pass date of the test.
Please be aware that CISRS/CSCS cards are valid for 5 years so holding a valid card does not necessarily mean your health and safety is still valid. Please ensure you check and re-take the health and safety test if required.

Delegates with a valid health & safety exemption will be required to provide a copy of certification for card application purposes. A list of exemptions can be found on the attached course description.

Hi-viz

PLEASE NOTE: LTC Training Services are unable to loan safety boots for use. In the case that you do not bring your own, new boots can be purchased from us for £20.00 + VAT.
