Aims and Objectives The overall aim is to develop in delegates an understanding of the appropriate safety regulations and the ability to interpret design specifications and statutory regulations when inspecting complex/design scaffolding structures for faults.

At the end of the course delegates should be able to:
 
State the relevant legislative requirements for scaffold inspection
Interpret scaffold design drawings for inspection purposes
 
And will be able to inspect, and record the findings of such an inspection for:
 
A basic design scaffold
Two-way shore
Raking shore
Dead shore
Slung scaffold
Staircase scaffold
Temporary roofs
Truss-out
Temporary ramps
Cantilever drop
Pre-Requisites This is a course aimed at persons responsible for inspecting tube and fitting scaffold and completing a report in accordance to the Work at Height Regulations 2005.

ENTRY REQUIRMENTS

Industry experience alone does not make a delegate eligible to attend an advanced SITS course. They must meet at least one of the following criteria before being accepted onto the course;

  1. Hold a CISRS BASIC SITS card for a minimum of 2 years.
  2. Hold a CISRS Scaffolder card for a minimum of 2 years
  3. Hold a CISRS Advanced card
  4. Hold a CISRS Supervisors/Managers card for a minimum of 2 years
  5. Have attended a retrospective Basic Inspection course with a CISRS approved provider within the 10 year period. The Basic course must be over 2 years old prior to attending the Advanced course.
  6. Have attended a retrospective Advanced Inspection course with a CISRS approved provider within the 10 year period  
  7. Have attended a BASIC SITS course following acceptance of historic (over 10 year period) CISRS recognised Inspection training



We would only expect the advanced course to be taken by those persons who are required to inspect complex tube and fitting scaffold on a regular basis e.g. a full time scaffold inspector, scaffold supervisor, project engineer etc. 

Please note that candidates must also hold a valid health and safety test or exemption 

HEALTH & SAFETY REQUIRMENTS

All CISRS recognised health, safety and environmental tests and exemptions are deemed valid for CISRS SITS applications. Exemptions are as follows;
•IOSH Working Safely/Managing Safely/Directing Safely (taken within 2 years of application)
•FAS Safe Pass (taken within 2 years of application)
•NEBOSH (General/Construction/International) H&S Certification (taken within 2 years of application)
•SMSTS Certificate (taken within 2 years of application)
•SSSTS Certificate (taken within 2 years of application)
•Current CCNSG Safety Passport (SCATS)
•Current CCNSG Leading a Team Safely (SCATS)
•Current MIST/BOSIET/OPITO Approved Offshore Certificate

Who will benefit from this course This SITS (Scaffold Inspection Training Scheme) course is intended to give attendees such knowledge to enable them to understand how to inspect basic and special purpose and designed scaffolding structures in accordance with the Work at Height Regulations 2005 and scaffolding industry best practice.

This is a course aimed at persons responsible for inspecting tube and fitting scaffold and completing a report in accordance to the Work at Height Regulations 2005.
Email - Please Note Please note that a copy of candidates’ certification must be provided and attached to their card application form to qualify for a health and safety exemption.

Health, safety and environmental tests can be booked via the Construction Skills website www.cskills.org or by telephone on 0344 994 4488.

Please also note that health, safety and environmental tests are valid for 2 years from the pass date. Please be aware that CISRS/CSCS cards are valid for 5 years so holding a valid card does not necessarily mean your health and safety is still valid. Please ensure you check and re-take the health, safety and environmental test if required

Equipment:
You will be required to bring the following PPE;
  • Hard hat
  • Safety boots
  • Hi-viz
PLEASE NOTE: LTC Training Services are unable to supply safety boots, in the case that you do not bring safety boots, we can sell them at £20.00 + VAT
